Description

Sadaf is the most recognised Persian restaurant in Sharjah, a long-running branch of the regional group that built its reputation on classical Iranian cooking and unhurried family dining. The Al Sharq room is decorated with Persian tilework and divided into open seating and a series of private, curtained booths - individual wood-panelled rooms with soft benches and a long table - that are particularly suited to larger family groups and diners who prefer privacy over a communal floor. The menu is a disciplined read of the Iranian canon. Meals open with complimentary freshly baked Persian bread and a vegetable soup that regulars come back for, followed by the kebab section where the kitchen does its best work: koobideh minced lamb, barg tenderloin, joojeh marinated chicken, and the mixed soltani platter, all served over saffron-scented chelo rice with grilled tomato and a knob of butter stirred through. Beyond the grill, the stewed dishes - ghormeh sabzi with herbs and dried lime, gheymeh with split peas - are where Persian cooking rewards a patient order, and Ramadan brings dedicated haleem and ash reshteh to the specials board. Falooda is the signature dessert; umm ali and a creditable house yoghurt drink finish the meal. Service is notably well-drilled - uniformed staff, thoughtful menu guidance, and a rare presence of women on the floor - and portions are generous, with complimentary soup and salad accompanying mains. Pricing sits at the upper end for the neighbourhood, and the cooking does lean rich in butter and oil, so this is a restaurant to visit hungry and with time to linger rather than for a quick weekday lunch. For Sharjah residents and visitors seeking authentic, well-executed Persian cooking in a calm, private-feeling setting, Sadaf remains the reference point.

when i arrived they have welcomed me from the door steps with an aircraft style, took me to a lovely table with private curtains, when i asked for recommendation the staff had a clear idea of what they are presenting, the intro and the soup were great, the main dish was super i can still taste. the amount of food was great compared to the price to be paid. from now on, sadaf will be a must visit restaurant for me in sharjah!

Okay, we went to the Sharjah International Book Fair, a fascinating event if ever anyone is around at the time ( another review though) and after we had finished we went to lunch at a restaurant family members had tried and recommended. They have open rooms and private rooms, like little cabins. Soft benches and a rectangular table. Okay for families too. We were greeted very nicely, staff were well dresses, well mannered and what I liked about this more than very similar restaurants in Abu Dhabi, is that women served as well. The restaurant had nice décor and a nice atmosphere. The walls had Persian tiles on them which I liked, it added to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Now, Sharjah itself it one of the affordable areas to eat and at the same time in very nice restaurants. It is on a small busy street but don't let the rest of the places on the street put you off from eating there. It is well worth a visit. Service was nice, we were given nice menu books, we add grilled kebab, motabel ( eggplant dip--a must try!) white rice also with kebab, Fatoosh ( great salad), and warm Nan bread...everything was served piping hot and the kebab were better than I have had in Abu Dhabi even! I would go again anytime. Only one thing I didn't like was the teeny space between bench and table but once you squeeze in there, you get used to it. Try getting out after full stomach!! Just slide along bench to get out! The price was fair and I hope to go again soon. So, pros for this: clean restaurant, smartly dressed and well mannered staff and service, service was prompt, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, and women servers too. Sadaf is by far the best Iranian restaurant in Sharjah. We go there all the time to enjoy their fantastic Iranian flavours. If you go there by your own car, they will pay for your parking if the restaurant parking is full. Their food menu is rich and full of a wide selection of enters and main courses. Make sure you try their signature desert; the Falooda. We liked the family section layout before they turn the entire space into private cabinets.
