Description
The Restaurant at The Chedi Al Bait sits inside the heritage compound of Sharjah's most architecturally considered hotel, in the Heart of Sharjah conservation quarter. The setting is the headline: a restored courtyard house with lanterns, candlelit tables, a small central fountain, and the kind of quiet stillness that is genuinely rare in the UAE dining scene. It is a destination for unhurried breakfasts during a stay, a romantic dinner under the stars, or a languid weekend lunch when a Dubai trip calls for something more considered than mall dining.
Chef Zakaria's menu pairs regional touchstones with a clean modern plating style. Dinner highlights include a lamb-shank rogan josh slow-cooked until it yields to a spoon, a Moroccan-style lamb-shank tagine, and a composed mixed grill that is generous enough to share. Complimentary warm bread with lentil soup sets the tone at the start of the meal, and desserts - a delicate profiterole and pastry-chef-driven parfaits - are clear highlights. Breakfast, however, is where the kitchen is at its most confident: truffled scrambled eggs, asparagus and eggs, steak and eggs, a proper shakshuka, an Arabic spread, and a well-kept pastry trolley, all served a la carte from an extensive menu. Fresh juices and the coffee programme are worth ordering unreservedly.
Service leans quietly formal and is among the more polished in Sharjah, with senior floor staff often introducing guests to the chef and walking them through the dishes. A few practical caveats deserve mention: pricing runs at five-star levels, and the kitchen has occasionally shown inconsistency on more ambitious dinner plates - fish and vegetable sides in particular have drawn measured criticism. The breakfast, the tagine, and the setting itself remain the strongest reasons to come. For visitors prioritising atmosphere and a sense of place alongside their meal, this is the most distinctive dining room in Sharjah.

Al Bait Sharjah is a new, beautiful boutique hotel in Sharjah. The traditional Emirati design is truly unique and the overall vibe is luxurious - in a casual and comfortable way. We went there for lunch a couple of times and the food was very good - even though the menu could be a bit more extensive. I would also love to see more Emirati food options as I feel that is generally lacking in the UAE (I have had the pleasure to dine at Emirati friends' homes and let me tell you that Emirati cuisine is phenomenal!). Our waitress Alia and all other staff was extremely kind and attentive. This is by far the best hotel in Sharjah and I would absolutely recommend it.
