voco Riyadh by IHG sits in the city's central business corridor, roughly fifteen minutes from the Kingdom Centre and around half an hour from King Khalid International Airport. The property reads as one of IHG's more polished upper-midscale openings in the Gulf: a confident contemporary lobby, generous public lounges scented with Arabic coffee and dates on arrival, and an operational tone that pitches itself between business hotel and quiet urban retreat.
Rooms are noticeably spacious by Riyadh standards, with king beds, large work desks, espresso machines and rainfall showers in marble bathrooms. Higher floors look out across the skyline and the city's cluster of towers, and soundproofing holds up well even on lower levels. The product is not flawless - a handful of rooms show light wear on carpets and soft furnishings, and the lift system requires a key card that can slow movement at peak times - but the standard is consistent and the housekeeping is meticulous.
Food and beverage is one of the hotel's stronger cards. Horizon, the all-day restaurant, runs a well-considered buffet with rotating themes, and the rooftop offers some of the better skyline views in this part of the city, particularly after dark. The Friday brunch and Ramadan tent are both worth booking for non-residents. Breakfast is generous and well staffed, with a live cooking station that lifts the standard. The executive lounge adds value for IHG One Rewards members on the right rate, though its evening offering can feel light outside of the dedicated buffet nights. F&B pricing is on the higher side, and there is limited walkable dining around the property, so most guests rely on the hotel or a short ride.
Wellness covers an outdoor pool, a 24-hour gym and a spa with a competent treatment menu, and the conference and meeting facilities are equipped to a genuine business-event standard. The service culture is what most clearly distinguishes voco Riyadh: a stable, long-tenured team across front office, F&B and guest relations who recognise returning guests and handle requests with quick, unforced warmth. This is a sound choice for extended business stays, mid-sized conferences and IHG loyalists who want a confidently run modern hotel in central Riyadh, with the caveat that travellers expecting a walking neighbourhood at their door should set expectations accordingly.
