Swiss Flora Royal Hotel sits on a busy arterial road in the eastern reaches of Riyadh, roughly twenty minutes from King Khalid International Airport and a longer drive from the Olaya and Diplomatic Quarter business clusters. The setting is functional rather than scenic: traffic noise on the main road is constant, and at the time of recent stays an active construction site next door has added daytime drilling to the soundtrack. Walking options are limited to a pharmacy and a burger shop, so factor in taxis or a rental for meals and meetings, and ask about a higher floor on the rear of the building if you are sensitive to noise.
Rooms are clean, sized comfortably for solo and short stays, and equipped with the standard four-star kit; some come with reliable air-conditioning and underground parking access, both genuine pluses in Riyadh's heat. Decor and finishings show their age in places, with paint wear around window frames and beds and pillows that lean firm rather than plush. Wi-Fi works for casual browsing but can drop in some rooms, and the hotel runs an airport pickup that is worth pre-booking. Standout details include welcome drinks at check-in, daily housekeeping (sometimes scheduled inconveniently late) and an effective security and screening setup at the front entrance.
Facilities cover a small gym, an indoor swimming pool, a spa and an in-house restaurant. The breakfast buffet is the strongest part of the food offering, with a varied international spread; lunch and dinner are decent value but unremarkable, and the gym and pool are compact rather than full-service - serious workouts will need a city-centre alternative. The restaurant runs a nightly live-music event that ends dinner service early and can be heard from rooms above the lobby until around midnight, an important note for early sleepers and families. Front-desk and food-and-beverage service is generally warm and willing, but operational consistency wavers: laundry turnaround, billing accuracy and printing or concierge requests have all stumbled at peak times, and solo female travellers have reported feeling less comfortable than at hotels closer to the centre.
The property suits cost-conscious business travellers with airport-area meetings, transit guests staying one or two nights, and group bookings happy with a no-frills four-star base. Leisure visitors, light sleepers, and travellers expecting polished service or walkable surroundings will be better served by a hotel in Olaya or near the Kingdom Centre.

The hotel is near the airport but on a very busy road . The rooms are small but comfortable with good facilities. The paint is peeling off the window frames. The breakfast is fine but as with the rest of the hotel the staff lack training. The housekeeping service needs monitoring as there are often things missing from the bathroom such as shower gel or a bath mat. The reception staff are also reasonably inefficient. On checking out they asked me for around 250 riyals. I asked why and at first he seemed not to be able to tell me why. It seem that had put all my colleagues bills on one and one had already left! The laundry fiasco was nteresting as I had left it with reception on a Thursday morning due to be returned that evening. By Friday evening no sign of it even after many talks with various memebers of staff. Eventually it was delivered at midnight with creases all over it. I discovered that they ahad changed the daye on my form to the Friday yet nobody would admit their rmistake . Eventually the manager turned up as I was due to leave for the airport. I had already spoken to 4 different managers!! They agreed tat I should not pay. It was only $10 anyway!!. In serious need of staff training.

this hotel is a shame on the city, I called them 5 hours before regular check in time they ask for 200sr, which was fine by me, when I arrive there 3 hours before check in time, they refuse to let me in even though I explained that I contacted the other receptionist and he offer me a room with extra money, "please note that the hotel was nearly empty from any car nor costumers" commuting to and from the hotel wasted my time and money, and I had to go to some mall to lose 3 hours before coming back again. I lost valuable things both morally and financially due to hotel's manipulation, however the next morning when I asked the receptionist about how much it cost to early check in " cause I couldn't believe what happens to me the other day, he replied "150sr", so clearly they have no idea of running a hotel what so ever, worst experience in Riyadh, hands down

The breakfast had issues - the meal options lacked variety, which was disappointing.
