Grand Plaza Hotel Takhasosi sits on Takhassusi Street in north-central Riyadh, an arterial road lined with supermarkets, mid-range restaurants, and the Lulu hypermarket within easy walking distance. The location works for business travellers visiting nearby hospitals and offices, and parking is straightforward and free. The setting itself is functional rather than scenic, and the immediate surroundings are heavily trafficked, with little walkable beyond the supermarket strip and a handful of nearby grills and cafes.
Rooms are unusually large for the price, with junior suites adding a separate sitting area and a second television. The Arabian-styled decor is dated, and the property's age shows clearly in the details: stained or worn carpets, tired bathroom fittings, mixed shower screens that flood the floor, and air-conditioning units that can be noisy at night. Sound insulation against the street and the elevators is limited on lower floors, and several rooms are reported to carry drainage odours from the bathrooms. Wi-Fi is free but inconsistent in-room, often working better in the lobby. Confirm a window-facing, upper-floor room at booking, as a small portion of inventory is windowless.
The food and beverage offer is modest. The single all-day restaurant runs a buffet breakfast with adequate variety, including a salad selection that is broader than typical at this category, but lunch and dinner options become repetitive on longer stays and the in-room dining menu is limited. The small outdoor pool, jacuzzi, and basic gym round out the facilities, although gym and pool access is gendered and women's hours are restrictive.
Service is the most variable element. The morning front-desk and bellhop teams are consistently warm and helpful, while late-night reception, housekeeping, and language coverage are uneven, particularly during check-in and when handling room issues. Best suited to budget-conscious business travellers and short-stay visitors with appointments along Takhassusi who prioritise spacious rooms, supermarket access, and parking, and who are prepared for a property in clear need of refurbishment. Travellers expecting consistent four-star polish, quiet sleep, or full evening dining should look elsewhere.

Hotel room is all the basic amenities. Clean and neat. Helpful staffs. Simple decoration and ample of complimentary bottles water to quench your thirst. The breakfast is ordinary, but it is tasty and have enough selection of salads which is lacking in most of Saudi eateries of this category. Wifi is fast. Swimming is small, but the seats and pool bench is great place to have a quiet discussion. Overall, it a good place to come back to after a long working day, it a hotel for travelers for business.

I was booked to stay at this hotel for the month of February, but checked out after one night. The pictures on their website are not even close to what I encountered in my room. I had booked a junior suite...when I got to the room, the sitting room was huge, but had only a sofa and two chairs...it was very empty looking. The drapes were not properly fitted to the window, the bathroom was small. They only provided one towel...when I used the shower the entire bathroom was soaked. The bed was not comfortable...the carpets were stained and dirty....the internet had to be reset by the staff a couple of times...the iron they gave me leaked all over my shirt when I ironed it....it was not a good experience. They have the same pictures from their website playing on a video screen over the reception desk...when they asked me why i was leaving, I simply pointed to the screen and asked them where those rooms are.....I think they got it.

I stayed in this so called 4 star hotel for 4 nights........bad experience.........bathroom smells specifically room 2220...........then I changed the room.........less smell...........there is basic problem with entire drainage system of the hotel....even my colleagues who stayed in other rooms had similar problem. The management should take this issue seriously, close the hotel for few weeks and get the entire drainage system checked and rectified. The front desk and other staff very helpful.
