Al Qubtan

Al Qubtan is the beachfront restaurant at Sheraton Sharjah in Al Heera, set directly on the sand with the Gulf stretching out beyond the terrace. The view does much of the heavy lifting - arriving around four in the afternoon gives you the full arc of the sunset with a soft breeze and unobtrusive music in the background - and the kitchen and floor team know how to frame it for an occasion. The menu balances Arabic, Mediterranean and Asian plates with a steady hand. Lamb kofta, lamb chops in apricot, chicken supreme, Thai curry and generously portioned prawns are the dishes that come up again and again, and the traditional Um Ali closes a meal well. Ramadan brings a well-regarded iftar buffet with live oud music and a broader spread; day-pass guests using the pool can also order from the regular kitchen. Service is unusually personal for a hotel venue. The team handles birthdays, anniversaries and romantic set-ups with genuine warmth rather than stiff choreography, and solo diners are looked after rather than left alone. Expect attentive pacing and a restaurant that leans into celebrations, with pricing that reads as a considered treat rather than an everyday stop.
