Al Dente

Tucked inside Coral Beach Resort in Al Heera, Al Dente is Sharjah's answer to an unfussy Italian trattoria, and it has become a quiet favourite for families, resort regulars and couples who return for the same dishes year after year. The dining room is warm and softly lit, with just enough colour to feel playful rather than formal, and the menu is printed in English, Arabic and Russian - a reflection of the international crowd the restaurant draws in. The kitchen focuses on a compact set of Italian classics done carefully. The pizzas are the clear signature: thin, generously cheesy, with the seafood version (piled with shrimp) and the margherita standing out. On the pasta side, the bolognese, creamy mushroom, and spicy arrabbiata are dependable picks, with a vegetarian ravioli option that actually holds its own. Heavier mains reward a longer visit - the ossobuco with risotto, the seafood risotto, and the lamb chops are the dishes regulars tend to order once and keep ordering. Portions are generous, and meals begin with complimentary bread and Italian sauces that set a welcoming tone. Service is where Al Dente earns much of its loyalty. The front-of-house team - names like Hira, Marjorie, Khurram and Bindu surface repeatedly in guest feedback - runs the floor with genuine warmth and attentiveness, and the chefs are happy to adapt dishes, including special requests for children or dietary needs. Note that Sharjah is a dry emirate, so no alcohol is served, and Sharjah Municipality charges are added to the bill alongside VAT. Parking in front of the hotel can be tight at peak hours. For reliably good Italian in a relaxed resort setting, though, it is one of the more consistent tables in the city.
