Description
Jalfrezi by Chef Vivek Huria is a chef-led Indian restaurant in the Al Nakheel area of Ras Al Khaimah, one of the newer entries to the emirate's dining scene and one of the few standalone rooms built around a named chef's personal vision. The setting is modern-Indian - warm-amber lighting, traditional motifs rendered in a contemporary finish, and a dining room that holds close to restaurant-quality styling rather than a casual neighbourhood eatery.
The menu leans North Indian with a sharper, more considered hand than the typical multi-cuisine rooms in the region. Tandoor-led starters, regional curries, carefully-layered biryanis and a proper bread programme - all executed with the kind of five-star-hotel discipline the chef's background suggests. Dishes are presented rather than served, spice levels are properly balanced rather than defaulted to high, and the supporting set of rice, sides and desserts is built to match.
Service is personal, and the chef's visible involvement in the kitchen is itself a distinguishing feature. Pricing sits above the neighbourhood Indian standalones in the area but below the hotel restaurants, reflecting the refinement. For a considered, chef-driven Indian dinner in RAK outside the resort corridor, Jalfrezi is one of the city's more interesting recent additions - worth booking for visitors wanting a serious Indian meal without the hotel-restaurant setting.
