Buddha-Bar at Grosvenor House is one of the Marina's most iconic evening rooms, an immersive pan-Asian restaurant that belongs to the global Buddha-Bar brand and holds the style faithfully. The dining room is unmistakable: a large seated Buddha at the centre, rich red and gold tones, heavy silk lantern lighting, low-slung banquettes, and full-height windows looking out across the Marina basin. The atmosphere reads nightlife-adjacent from early evening, rising in volume as service progresses.
The kitchen works a considered pan-Asian menu with Japanese and Thai at its core. Sushi and maki are the expected headline, both prepared to serious standard with rice worked properly and fish handled with care; the lobster dumplings are the most-requested opener and arrive in a genuinely rich, aromatic sauce. Sticky prawns, a lemongrass salad, red Thai curry, and tempura vegetables carry the main body of the menu, and a tight Japanese grill section holds its own. Cocktails are a real strength, built with precision and served with theatre, and the wine list runs long and well-curated.
Entertainment is part of the format. A rotating programme of DJ-and-violin sets, live performers, and immersive themed shows takes over in the evening, and the soundtrack rises notably with it - a conversation at the table is comfortable until roughly the mid-evening mark, after which the volume tips into club territory. Earlier bookings catch a calmer dinner; later ones commit to the show. Window tables carry both the Marina view and the best seat for the in-room performance.
Service is polished and practised, long-tenured in parts, with sommeliers and floor staff recognising returning guests across visits. Occasion dinners are handled with quiet ceremony; anniversary and birthday bookings are rewarded with a complimentary dessert plate. Grosvenor House half-board allowance can be applied towards the bill. Buddha-Bar is priced firmly in the upper-tier fine-dining bracket, with the view, show, and cooking together justifying the position. Reservations are essential, particularly for weekend evenings and performance nights.

We stayed for a birthday dinner: we booked in advance reporting intolerances and the event. Negative notes: Nobody knew anything about the above. Average food: some bad dishes (like fried squid - shampoos, hard and chewy) good sushi. Bad service: we asked for the soy sauce 3 times before we had it (in the meantime the dish became cold) and between the appetizers and the sushi it took 70 minutes!! ... I understand that they may have missed the command, but at least apologize or give something away.... Positive note: the location, really top! Machine Translated Show original
