Hotel Riu Dubai anchors the newly developed Dubai Islands off Deira with something rare in the emirate: a full all-inclusive beach resort, where meals, a generous drinks programme, pool bars, and evening entertainment are folded into a single price. It is an unusual proposition in a city where dining and, in particular, alcohol are typically billed separately and at premium, and it is the main reason guests from the UK, Europe, and the GCC return here rather than to a comparable city-centre property.
The physical setup is resort-scale: a broad private beach on the Gulf with complimentary kayaks, paddleboards, and pedalos, three outdoor pools including one with a swim-up bar, and landscaped gardens separating the water from the tower. Rooms are clean and well air-conditioned, on the compact side rather than lavish, with balconies and partial or full sea views from higher floors on the beach-facing elevations (rooms in the 6000 and 3000 blocks are well positioned). Dining runs through a large main buffet with a strong curry corner and international stations, plus a la carte evenings at Spices, Al Andalus, and a Lebanese outlet - the specialty restaurants need to be booked on the Riu app first thing in the morning, as slots go quickly. Evenings centre on the SPIKE bar, a sports bar, a quiet lobby lounge, and a theatre space with nightly shows.
Service is a consistent strength. Reception, restaurant, and pool-bar teams are warm and capable, and the kitchen and nurse's office have handled everything from dietary restrictions to medication needs with unusual grace during travel disruptions. Families with children are well catered to; couples looking for a quieter corner will find one at the adult-leaning pool or Spices.
A few honest caveats before booking. Dubai Islands remains a live construction site, so expect cranes on the skyline and some building visible from sea-view rooms; the resort also sits under a flight path, though in-room soundproofing is good. The location is roughly fifteen to twenty minutes from Deira and thirty-plus from Downtown, so a taxi is needed for anything off-site. At peak holidays, check-in queues and buffet crowds can build. Best for travellers who want an all-in, low-friction beach holiday on the edge of Dubai rather than a hotel from which to explore the city on foot.

Overall, great property with great staff. But veg food options were limited and repetitive. Also, it would have been good to see some sort of sports area (like Badminton, tennis, etc. ) within the resort.

A good place to unwind for family with kids. The AI package helps and is nice, although few more options could be added and improved. The check in took us 1.5hrs and breakfast queue was about 30mins. Not enough parking and we had to park on the main street outside the hotel risking Police fines. I would let that go, as it was peak Eid rush but there should have been contingency plans in place. All in all still a nice stay and kudos to staff for keeping up with the rush and let the flow continue.
