The Grand Hyatt Dubai is one of the city's original large-format resort hotels, anchoring a fourteen-hectare estate of tropical gardens and waterways on the Bur Dubai side of the creek. It now comes with a sizeable on-site waterpark, which has reframed the property as a genuine family destination within easy reach of Downtown, DIFC and the airport - roughly fifteen minutes by car in any direction.
Rooms are spacious and understated, with deep windows and balconies on most categories; the best look out over the gardens, the creek or the Burj Khalifa beyond, and it is worth specifying a garden or skyline view at booking to avoid the construction aspect on certain floors. Bathrooms are generous rather than contemporary in feel, and the hotel's vintage shows in places - a staged refresh is underway. Club rooms buy access to the Grand Club lounge, which delivers a strong breakfast, all-day refreshments and evening canapés, and tends to be the category most consistently praised.
Dining across the resort is one of its stronger cards. Awtar, the in-house Lebanese restaurant, is a long-standing favourite for mezze and grilled meats; The Collective buffet handles breakfast and international dinners at volume; IndeGo by Vineet brings refined Indian cooking, and Bistro 31 runs an easy all-day programme. Elsewhere guests find Panini for Italian, a sushi counter, and an airy lobby lounge for afternoon tea. Pools are plentiful - several outdoor pools plus the waterpark with slides - and the grounds are well-maintained for family wandering.
The honest caveats are consistent enough to flag. Arrivals at peak holiday times can feel under-resourced: valet and luggage assistance are not a given, and self-parking along with carrying your own bags has surprised guests expecting the full five-star forecourt routine. Waterpark access rules are also tied to booking length, so travellers planning a single-night stop should confirm the exact number of admission days when reserving. Managed around those points, though, the Grand Hyatt remains a rare thing in central Dubai: a genuinely resort-scaled hotel with its own waterpark, twenty minutes from the skyline.

The Grand Hyatt provides spotless facilities, highly capable and professionally prepared staff, and delicious food at every venue - all restaurants and when providing drinks and amazing snacks for meetings during the day. The care of my guest room was impeccable, each team member who greeted me was friendly, professional, and wholly competent to do their job. Overall just an amazing experience.
