Al Habtoor Grand Resort sits at the quieter, southern end of Jumeirah Beach Residence, and it trades on a straightforward proposition: a long stretch of private beach, lush landscaped grounds with waterfalls, and an Arabian-style lobby that sets an unhurried tone. The walk from the lifts to The Walk at JBR takes a few minutes, putting the cafes, shops and tram of Dubai Marina within easy reach while the hotel itself stays insulated from the crowd. Rooms are roomy and classically styled, with balconies on most categories and the best of them facing the Gulf rather than the gardens or the neighbouring construction site; it is worth asking for a full sea view at booking. Bedding is soft by default, and the front desk can arrange toppers and alternative pillow options on request. Housekeeping is reliably attentive, and the Club Lounge on higher floors is a strong reason to upgrade, with generous breakfast, canapés and a well-run bar. Thirteen restaurants and bars spread across the resort - the Grand Grill for steaks, The Grand Garden for outdoor Ramadan Iftars and relaxed dinners, a long international breakfast buffet, pan-Asian and Mediterranean options - give guests little reason to leave the property, though quality varies between venues, so the headline rooms get the bookings. The main pool and the family pool are both well staffed, the children's slides are a consistent hit, and the beach team lays out sunbeds, umbrellas and towels without friction. O Beach, a lively third-party beach club on site, is a useful extra for couples looking for more atmosphere in the afternoon. Two honest caveats. The resort has been working through a staged refurbishment, which means sections of the grounds and some adjacent areas can be visibly under construction and occasionally audible from the pool - ask about the current state when booking. And arrival is self-park rather than valet, which feels off-pitch for the category. Those points aside, for a JBR beach holiday with real breathing room, it remains one of the better-value five-star options on the strip.
