The shrimp yellow curry and the green curry are the kitchen's signature mains, both layered properly and served with steamed rice that has been given genuine attention rather than treated as filler. The Pad Thai is precise work, the tom kha and tom yum hold clean, aromatic broths, and a selection of grilled dishes and stir-fried noodles rounds out the mains cleanly. A small dessert list closes well, with mango sticky rice the consistent pick. The cocktail programme runs alongside, with a fair non-alcoholic selection for guests preferring mocktails. Service is the other reason the room runs regularly full. The floor team is genuinely warm, practised at pacing occasion bookings with the fountain shows, and unobtrusively thoughtful about photography for anniversaries and other table celebrations. Front-of-house gets creative about table allocation during busy evenings, and attentive hosts handle returning guests with the recognition of a repeat-customer operation. Thiptara is priced toward the upper end of Downtown Thai dining, with value supported by the setting and the Palace's overall service standards rather than simply the plate. Reservations for the waterside pavilion sell well in advance; a sunset into early-evening slot catches the first full fountain show with the most composed dining room light. For a Thai dinner with a serious sense of occasion and a front-row Downtown view, Thiptara is among the more complete experiences in the area.
