We asked the very helpful and friendly ladies that work at the sheikh zayed museum in al ain where we should go to have an authentic emirate meal and the recommended al yahar. My wife and a walked in only to find that women should use a separate entrance :) but they were okay and showed us to the family area upstairs- seating is on the floor and eating is with your hands although cutlery was provided. We ordered a whole grilled chicken and a fish - had a tandoori like flavour and was perfectly spiced and cooked. However the most delicious thing was the biryani rice that came with it - spiced with cardamons, cloves, cumin. Absolutely amazing. All this, plus a salad and drinks for 50 aed I highly recommend a step off the beaten track to experience this wonderful simple food in an authentic setting.

Al Yahar Modern Restaurant is one of the most popular Arab mandi restaurants in Al Ain situated near Al Jahli park. Food is served in big plates (Sahans) for a group of people sit together and eat in Arabian style. The most traditional and tasty dishes of the restaurant are Faham chicken mandi and Hamour fish mandi. There will be heavy crowd during peak hours and staff are good in service. Have been staying in ALAIN , for more than 3 years now, since then exploring the delicious Yemeni Mandi at this restaurent, a very old one and too busy restaurant too! Has separate private space for dining in Arabian tradition, Rice is very special there, definitely they are using the high quality basmati , charges are very reasonable as well I liked the most Mutton mudfoon , mutton mandi , chicken madhbi Recommend to visit this restaurent in ALAIN, you won’t get regretted
