Description
Aquarius Pool Bar is the poolside drinks and lunch spot at Al Ain Rotana, trading in the easy, sun-warmed rhythm of a hotel pool deck: daybeds, towels and a playlist turned low, with a full bar programme and a short, well-judged food menu to keep guests on property through the afternoon.
The drinks programme is the centrepiece. Long-standing bartender Ramen has made the bar something of a personality-led destination within the resort, shaking crisp mojitos, well-balanced strawberry daiquiris, proper Long Island iced teas and the Tokyo iced tea for those after something stronger. The wine list is short but serviceable, and the bar handles requests confidently. Cocktails do occasionally run uneven when the bar is stretched, so a regular trick is to ask for a sample before committing to a round.
The food menu is deliberately pool-friendly and consistently solid. Chicken tenders and onion rings are the standout bar snacks, the club sandwich is a reliable lunch order, and portions are generous. Food and drinks need to be ordered from the bar itself rather than from a circulating server, which is worth planning around when the deck is busy.
Atmosphere is relaxed and adult-oriented for most of the week, with quieter weekday afternoons the best window for sunbathing. Thursday afternoons are noticeably louder and more family-skewed, and summer evenings fill up quickly with resort guests. Alcohol is priced at hotel rates - on the higher side for Al Ain - and the house rule that drinks stay out of the pool is worth knowing up front, even given the in-water seating.
For hotel guests, day-pass visitors and members after a sunlit afternoon of well-made cocktails and honest bar food, Aquarius is the most characterful of the city's pool bars.

The ambiance is nice, usually relaxing unless you make the mistake of going on a Thursday afternoon when there tends to be more kids and noise; however you can still find a quiet space to relax and sunbathe in peace. The cocktails are usually hit or miss so I suggest asking for a sample before you buy the entire drink. Towels are available and music is usually playing. Downside- You have to continuously walk up to the bar to place food and drink orders, because servers don't typically come up to you.

Decent hotel pool bar to use if you are staying at the Rotana, not worth a special trip as it often is very busy during the summer months and evenings Review collected in partnership with this restaurant
