Golden Sheep has been grilling Lebanese food in central Al Ain since 1980, and remains one of the city's most enduring neighbourhood institutions. Sat on Khalifa Street near Hai al Humairah, the restaurant is deliberately unfussy: a tight dining room, a family section for groups with children, an outdoor patio that catches the passing trade, and a constant parade of cars pulling up to the kerb for takeaway. The appeal is pure quality at honest prices, served without ceremony.
The meal begins before you order: a platter of fresh Lebanese bread, olives, pickled cucumbers and peppers, and a "build-your-own-salad" plate of romaine, tomato, cucumber and a whole lemon arrive at the table automatically, and for many diners this alone is enough. The mezze section is where the kitchen genuinely excels: the hummus (particularly with meat and toasted pine nuts) and fattoush are consistently singled out as among the best in Al Ain, and the moutabel carries a properly smoky edge. The mixed grill platter is the main to order - lamb kebabs, shish taouk and lamb chops handled over charcoal with confidence - and the stuffed lamb with cinnamon-scented rice is the quieter signature worth ordering when you see it. Portions run generous enough that most tables leave with takeaway boxes. Fresh-squeezed juices, the mint-lemon slushie and the avocado shake are the drinks locals return for. Desserts are limited and not the draw.
Service is friendly and efficient rather than polished, with the floor team quick to bring refills of bread and salad and patient with families. Two honest caveats: the outdoor patio can get noisy in the evenings from kerbside takeaway horns, and the room fills fast from 8pm onwards on weekends, particularly Thursday onwards, so arrive early or book. For authentic Lebanese cooking at genuinely fair prices, few addresses in Al Ain match it.

Without a doubt definitely the most delicious Lebanese food you will get in the whole of Al-Ain! They aren't about the making fancy dishes which look nice on a plate... It's quality food with quality taste! The que outside almost every night of cars for takeaway explains itself!
