Al Dar Restaurant is a well-appointed Arabic and mixed-grill restaurant in central Al Ain, trading in generous Levantine mezze, charcoal grills and a well-attended buffet lunch for a reasonable price. The interior leans into a plush, quietly theatrical Arabic aesthetic, with a spacious main hall that comfortably absorbs family tables and special-occasion dinners.
The kitchen's strengths are predictable in the right way: hummus, moutabbal and tabbouleh open a meal with above-average finish, shish taouk and grilled beef arrive tender and properly charred, and chicken biryani and chicken khorma are both reliable alternatives for diners steering away from the grill. The musbi (a kabsa-style spiced chicken with rice) easily feeds two and is one of the most distinctive orders on the menu, often served alongside a light complimentary extra that becomes part of the experience. The fixed-price buffet lunch is notably good value and offers enough rotation of hot dishes and salads to justify the price on its own. Pricing across the board is moderate by Al Ain standards.
The room accommodates birthdays and anniversaries with genuine attention - candles, a considered welcome, small cakes - and in quiet stretches service under the floor manager and head chef is warm and well-paced. That hospitality is the most uneven part of the experience. On busier days, and particularly during Ramadan iftar and large group functions, a recurring theme has been unannounced table reassignments, dessert stations running out, and blunt handling of guest complaints. Diners booking for larger occasions are well advised to reconfirm details and the buffet timing in advance, and to ask for the main hall explicitly.
For a weeknight family dinner, a romantic occasion or a good-value Arabic buffet lunch, Al Dar earns its place - best experienced on a calmer evening when the room and the kitchen can show their strongest form.

We went on a day they had a buffet lunch. The food was excellent with a variety of taste for different palates. The food was enjoyable and the service was good. What spoiled our day was this rude woman who came from the kitchen direction. A patron asked if she could identify what a particular dish was and she she replied 'I don't know' with a very rude and annoying tone. Watch out for that. Other wise the lady attending to our table and the guys in the restaurant were all polite. But, except for this short employee. Value Service Food

We reserved a table for 5 people for the iftar buffet. Firstly, after arriving, they moved us to an inferior hall on the basis that the main hall was full. We were not informed of this. Secondly, the person in charge was the rudest man I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. He refused to apologise or accommodate us in anyway. He said "If you're not satisfied, cancel and leave." There were insufficient glasses and cutleries. Within 20 minutes, all the dessert was gone. Overall, they have the poorest customer service I've have witnessed in Al Ain.
