Orchid Restaurant

Orchid is the all-day dining room of the Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman, a sizeable rectangular space built around a long buffet line that seats more than two hundred across two banks of tables. The look is unfussy and slightly old-school, but the operation is run with care, and the restaurant has built a loyal local following for its daily changing buffets rather than for any particular scene. The food leans international with a strong Indian and Middle Eastern backbone. Breakfast is broad, with the Thursday chicken keemeh a quiet regulars' favourite. At lunch and dinner, salads are the strongest opening act, with a dozen or more options spanning tabbouleh, fattoush, a make-your-own Greek station, pasta, shrimp, chicken and notably good marinated olives, alongside moutabal, hummus and dips. Mains cover chicken biryani (reliably among the better versions in Ajman), chicken korma, lamb kofta, lamb okra, chicken mandi, pasta in white sauce, and a rotating fish fillet. The dessert spread is the restaurant's signal strength, with fifteen or so cakes, umm ali, vanilla millefeuille, Arabic sweets, fresh fruit and ice cream. Portions and variety are generous, the kitchen accommodates off-menu requests for children, and chef Mazen Khadour tends to circulate through the room. Service is consistently warm and the team has the logistics of a busy buffet well in hand, though Iftar and weekend peaks can stretch the floor thin and the restaurant does not take reservations for smaller parties. The cooking, while well-executed for a hotel buffet, skews toward Indian spicing that European diners looking for pan-Asian fare have occasionally found limiting, and à la carte lobster and specialty seafood are not its strength. Pricing is higher than the cafés and grills on the surrounding streets, and the value argument rests on the breadth of the spread rather than dish-level flourish. For business lunches, family gatherings, or a comfortable hotel dinner in central Ajman, Orchid is a dependable and well-run choice.
