Description
Tandoori Flames sits within walking distance of the Ajman Corniche and the Fairmont, drawing a steady stream of families and travellers looking for serious North Indian cooking in a part of town where options can feel thin. The dining room is warm and clean-lined, built for unhurried meals, with a live kitchen sending out tandoor smoke and the unmistakable aroma of freshly bloomed spices. Service is attentive without being fussy, and the kitchen comfortably handles groups, with a separate family hall for larger parties.
The menu spans Punjabi, Rajasthani and South Indian territory, with a few Chinese and Pakistani crossovers. The tandoori section is the heart of the operation: smoky, well-marinated meats and the BBQ platter are the strongest recommendations for first-time visitors. Butter chicken, biryani and a generous lineup of freshly baked naans anchor the North Indian side, while the Rajasthani thali and dal bati churma reward diners who want something more regional. Starters like pani puri and papri chaat are crisp and bright, and the house rasmalai finishes the meal on a confident note. Portions are generous and prices sit comfortably below the quality of the cooking.
One quirk worth flagging: the menu is presented on an iPad rather than in print, which not every diner will appreciate. Beyond that, Tandoori Flames is a reliably good Indian restaurant for Ajman, equally suited to a relaxed family dinner, a casual lunch after the Corniche, or a larger celebration in the private hall.
