Sultan Saray is a Turkish restaurant on the Ajman Corniche that leans into traditional Ottoman hospitality, with a spacious indoor dining room, a broad outdoor terrace and decor built around warm wood, lanterns and tiled accents. The mood is social and family-oriented, with televisions tuned to football in the corners and a steady flow of Turkish tea and small complimentary extras coming to the table. It draws a crowd of locals, Gulf visitors and European tourists in equal measure.
The menu is meat-forward and best approached with a group. The mixed grill platters are the centrepiece, served by the piece or, for larger tables, by the metre, and the lamb chops, shish kebabs and doner wrapped in pita are the most reliable orders. A strong dessert trolley of Turkish sweets and a fruit platter typically arrive towards the end of the meal, often as a gesture from the kitchen, and are a genuine strength of the experience. Portions run large, which makes the kitchen good value if ordered carefully but costly if the table over-commits. It is alcohol-free in line with the emirate.
Service is where the room divides opinion. On good nights the floor is genuinely generous, with waiters remembering returning guests and sending out extras without being asked. Less happily, a recurring theme is over-selling at the ordering stage, with servers nudging tables to add more than they can finish, and takeaway pricing that does not always match portion size. The recommendation is to order conservatively, confirm quantities before they go to the kitchen and ask for the bill to be itemised. Taken with those caveats, the cooking itself is honest Turkish fare in a handsome setting.

Oh, what a presentation of doner in pita bread. Vegetables, garlic-mayonnaise sauce, pickled cucumbers, and country-style potatoes are served separately. Oh, what a taste. What a sight for sore eyes! Price - 45 aed. Show original
