Description
Positioned directly opposite the Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel on the Corniche, Soya Chang offers a rare proposition in the emirate: Chinese cooking that leans toward the authentically Cantonese rather than the heavily localised version common to the wider UAE. The dining room is simple, with an open layout and a handful of sequestered booths, and the operation is run by a Chinese chef-owner whose presence in the kitchen tends to define the quality of any given visit.
The menu spans two registers. Regulars head straight to the more traditional end: Peking duck, black bean fish, hot pot (available in individual portions as well as family-sized), stir-fried gai lan, spinach with peanuts, and fresh hand-made noodles that anchor the soup dishes. For those after more familiar territory, there is a full run of Chinese-American staples including Manchurian chicken, honey chicken and fried rice. Seafood is handled well when the right chef is on, prawns in batter and sea bass-style pan-fried fish being particular strengths. Portions are generally fair, prices are moderate by Corniche standards, and non-alcoholic beer is available.
Consistency is the most honest caveat. When the head Chinese chef is working, the food is genuinely accomplished and worth the drive from Sharjah or Dubai; on quieter shifts or during Chinese New Year when stand-ins are in the kitchen, dishes can arrive oversalted, greasy or flat. Service pace is relaxed rather than brisk, and communication can occasionally require patience. Still, for diners on the Ajman Corniche looking for a considered break from the grill-house repertoire, Soya Chang remains one of the few places between Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain serving Chinese food with genuine intent.

My wife and I ate at the Soya Chang during a holiday in Ajman. It was the nearest Chinese restaurant to our hotel and we were in the mood for a change. There were also some Asian people eating there, so we thought it must be good. Regrettably, we were not impressed. Other than the spring rolls, which were good, the rest of the food was mediocre at best and over-salted. I was thirsty all night. The service was also rather slow and at times we felt like we were an inconvenience. We did not go back. Value Service Food Review collected in partnership with this restaurant

My family often go to this place for a meal atleadt once a month. We like the food it's with no msg and really fresh seafood & meat is served. The veggies are really good. This is the only decent chines restaurant you can find from sharjah to Ajman it's owned buy a Chinese gentleman who is a very nice gentleman and there is a Chinese waitress who is well trained and she will help you select the dish you would like to eat. Do not go during Chinese holidays cause most of the Chinese head chefs are on leave that would leave them with other nationality chefs who would definitely spoil your soup😂. I like the hotpot, their lamb is so fresh, they have seaweeds which are really fresh

This place is almost directly opposite the Ajman Palace Hotel. I ate here twice and both times had an excellent, hot, freshly-cooked meal. The place is unpretentious with an open area, and a few sequestered booths. The service was prompt and charming. There was a wait for the food, but it was worth it as everything came up very hot and freshly cooked. And it was delicious. The prices were extremely reasonable. Recommended.
