I booked a private room for my father's birthday at this newly opened Turkish restaurant at Fairmont Ajman. Earlier that day we visited the restaurant and found the ambience and layout very modern and stylish. That same moment we food for the evening in consultation with the manager. With a party of 9 adults we reached the restaurant early evening and found the private dining room freezing cold. The fruit flies arrived with the tasty olive bread and then hovering over the cold appetizers. Our bodies had thawed by the time the waiter started cooking the turkish meatballs with a blowtorch right on the table. Decent food. The main course arrived 25 minutes later than the appetizers. Mix grill platters that were meant for 2 people arrived with a tiny portion of vegetables and an even tinier portion white rice. Although the manager convinced us earlier in the day that a platter was enough for 3 people we embarrassingly had to order another as clearly the food wasn't enough and waited another 25 minutes. The waiters were scarce throughout the evening and were quite below standard for serving at a restaurant in a 5 star hotel. No one asked us about drinks when we came in and we jumped straight to tea after our meals. The tables were hastily cleaned after our main course which left crumbs right beside our dessert and turkish tea. I paid 5 star prices for food that was half decent and service you would expect from a food joint on the streets of Istanbul.
